It has been confirmed that we will officially see a small number of fans at UFC 259.
Some felt this would never happen. UFC President Dana White has repeatedly claimed he will not allow fans inside US events until he can sell out arenas. It appears he’s changed his mind.
Here’s what we know about this situation!
The UFC is Set to Make its Return to the Apex Center in Las Vegas
Back in June of 2019, the UFC unveiled its new “Apex Center,” a state-of-the-art center for the promotion to hold events. Building this new venue has proven to be extremely valuable. It is now one of two locations that the UFC is able to hold its events.
Fans were treated to several incredible fight cards at the Apex Center in 2020. That includes the trilogy between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. Dana White has continued to claim it will be the primary location for fight cards to be held in 2021.
The UFC has just wrapped up its operations on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. Three events took place here, including the massive one featuring Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. On February 6, the promotion heads back to Las Vegas with five massive fight cards.
The first one features a main event between Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov. It’s an important heavyweight clash between two world-class strikers. Many fans are curious to see if Overeem can continue his unexpected move up the heavyweight rankings towards another title shot.
Next, the UFC will hold a massive event headlined by Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns for the welterweight title. The upcoming five weeks will be incredible for fight fans around the world. We’re now beginning to hear more about the final event at the Apex Center.
Just about everyone is excited to see how the upcoming light-heavyweight title fight plays out. Here’s an exciting new update on this show!
Dana White Confirms We’ll See Fans at UFC 259
The entire professional sports industry changed last year. As most know, all sports leagues completely shut down in March of that year. Many finally began operating again over the summer, yet fans were not allowed to attend most live sporting events.
Even today, fan attendance at games is rarely allowed. Some leagues are experimenting by allowing a limited number of fans to attend their events. That includes the UFC, which let a few thousand individuals watch the three fight cards in-person on Fight Island.
Things worked out and it now appears the UFC is ready to accept a few fans at the events at the Apex Center. Dana White revealed some of the promotion’s plans for the events in Las Vegas. He confirmed that we will see fans at UFC 259 in Las Vegas.
“You can win the ultimate, exclusive UFC fan experience and be the first to attend a live Pay-Per-View event inside the Apex,” White said. “One lucky winner and their guest will get round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, I’ll give you a bunch of UFC gear, and best of all, you’ll be the only fans in the Apex for UFC 259, Saturday, March 6 in Las Vegas. Go to UFC.com/bestseats… This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, do not miss out! Sign-up for this thing right now.”
Obviously, this is different from the events on Fight Island. Only a few individuals will be given permission to attend UFC 259. Buying tickets to the event isn’t possible. You’ll need to win the UFC’s contest in order to get the invitation.
Now is the Perfect Time to Bet on Adesanya vs. Blachowicz
In just a few years, Israel Adesanya has grown to become one of the biggest stars in MMA. He has dominated his competition and has now recorded two defenses of his middleweight title. On March 6, he will move up in weight to take on Jan Blachowicz for the 205-pound belt.
This is a huge fight. If Jan wins, he will establish himself as a legitimate champion in the wake of Jon Jones’ absence. If Israel gets the victory, it would make him one of the few fighters to simultaneously hold championships in two different weight classes.
BetOnline, one of the best online sportsbooks in the US, is now offering odds on this bout. Many feel it will be a very competitive matchup. There are some fans who are surprised to see where both of these men stand with the oddsmakers, though.
Israel Adesanya is listed as the -265 favorite in this bout. He is likely the most dangerous striker in UFC history. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him pick Jan apart on the outside en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Jan Blachowicz is one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC. He shocked the world by knocking out Dominick Reyes in his most recent fight. With odds of +225, he could earn bettors some serious cash with a victory.
