The Grade 3, $100,000 American Stakes is set to run on June 21 at Santa Anita Park.
The field of 10 3-year-olds and up will cover a flat mile on turf and include veterans like Richard Mandella’s Border Town.
Here is a look at the field for the American Stakes.
Owned by Perry R. Brass, II and Ramona Bass and trained by Richard Mandella, Border Town is winless in a pair of one-mile turf maiden races. Those came under trainer Chad Brown in July and September of last year.
The 4-year-old colt by War Front has run four races for Mandella and regular rider Flavien Prat, including a head defeat in a one-mile maiden race on Jan. 5.
He then went on to finish third under the same conditions on Jan. 30. On Feb. 28, he took a 3 1/2-length maiden win going 1 1/8 miles on turf Feb. 28.
Border Town’s most recent start came on May 24, where he pushed forward late to win a one-mile turf allowance by one length.
He will break from post 7 under Flavien Prat at 4/1.
