Lakers Offer Intriguing Potential
What better way to stick it to his former Los Angeles Clipper team than to play for the hated rival Lakers? Griffin ended his tenure with the Clippers under rocky circumstances and could help a sluggish Lakers squad that has lost seven of ten without superstar Anthony Davis as he deals with a calf strain.
Imagine Blake Griffin signs with the Lakers just to beat the Clippers in the 2nd round and win a ring. Life is funny sometimes lol

His two worst field goal percentage and rebounds per game seasons have been in the last two years. Though Griffin is a shell of his former self, he’s still a big body that would help the Lakers get by while Davis is expected to miss at least a few more weeks. LA has shown that they aren’t shy about employing great players of yesteryear as Dwight Howard was a part of their championship run last season.
Brooklyn Nets Present Best Option
Though it isn’t the best bet to make from a value perspective, there’s a reason the Brooklyn Nets are so heavily favored to sign Griffin, as he’d be able to slide into a unit that boasts Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.
They could use more depth in the front court after dealing away Jarrett Allen in the Harden deal, and although Griffin isn’t a dominant defensive presence and he won’t provide a ton of offense, he wouldn’t be expected to.
Sources: Blake Griffin gave back $13.3 million in his buyout with the Pistons. He had $75M on his deal for this season and 2021-22. The six-time All-Star will clear waivers on Sunday and the Brooklyn Nets are the leaders to sign him.

Griffin could also be a boost to Brooklyn who hasn’t had Kevin Durant for nine games as he deals with a hamstring issue. Former teammate DeAndre Jordan, who is now on the Nets, could be the recruit to convince Griffin to go all in on his quest for his first NBA title.
Shams is as connected as anybody in the league, and if he says the Nets are the leaders to sign him, how can you not trust him?
