Factors to Consider Before Betting This Game

Dolphins Injuries

Dolphins receiver Preston Williams was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury, meaning he’ll be sidelined for three games and perhaps longer.

“We ran some tests. It’s a little bit more significant than we initially thought,” coach Brian Flores said. “It’s a big loss. Preston has made a lot of plays for us over the first half of the season.”

Flores didn’t want to speculate on the length of Williams’ expected absence, but he will miss at least three games with the injury after further tests confirmed a more serious injury.

Flores also said Christian Wilkins and Kyle Van Noy will be unavailable Sunday vs. the Chargers as they are on covid-19/reserve list. Matt Breida will be questionable with his hamstring injury, but he practiced all three days in some capacity.

Chargers Injuries

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without defensive end Joey Bosa and running back Justin Jackson when the team faces the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Bosa has been in the concussion protocol since last Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Jackson left that same game with a knee injury that will keep him out this week.

Winning Streak

Miami enters this contest riding a four-game winning streak. Three of those wins game against solid teams, all of which play in the red hot NFC West: The Rams, Cardinals and 49ers.

Miami Defense

The Dolphins defense allowed 31 points last week against the Cardinals was the most they allowed over their four-game winning streak and a combined total of 34 points over the other three wins.

Winners and Whiners Prediction

“Miami is a 1.5 point home favorite and I suppose they should be but I don’t see them covering the spread or winning the football game. It will be sunny and warm in Miami but the Dolphins backfield is a mess and Tagovailoa is really just a game manager at this point in his career. The Chargers offense is going to be able to score on the Miami defense and I don’t think the Dolphins can beat Los Angeles via the air. I will take the points and take the Chargers to cover in this contest.” – Winners and Whiners

Sagarin Rating

Dolphins -4 (does not account for recent injuries)
