WATERBURY – Joyce J. (Piccolo) (Diogostine) Thibodeau, age 79, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the loving wife of the late Leo Thibodeau.
Joyce was born on Nov. 9, 1941, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Corrideo and Concetta (Infanti) Piccolo, and stepdaughter of Mary (Scappini) Piccolo. She was a graduate of Wilby High School. She enjoyed trips to Florida, several cruises, and camping at the Chi-Wi-Ma campground.
She had fun times playing bingo and participating in many social activities and trips at the Waterbury Senior Center. She had a group of lifelong friends with whom she loved to spend time. Above all, Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother and was happiest spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by her son, Joseph Diogostine III and his wife, Desiree, of Durham; her stepdaughter, Lori Lodge and her husband, Chris, of Terryville; her grandchildren, Christopher Lodge of Terryville and Tessa Diogostine of Durham. She also leaves her loving companion of eight years, John Pettinicchi of Waterbury, and many close, longtime friends. In addition to her husband, Leo, Joyce was predeceased by her daughter, Deborah Ann Diogostine, and her brother, Robert Piccolo.
Joyce’s family would like to thank her caregivers with a special thanks to Joanna Casaigne for the support and love shown to Joyce.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be at a later date to be announced. Maiorano Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
