“I think the game of hurling it didn’t have any cards at all I don’t think,” he said.

“We’re that I fell in love with years and years and years ago Trying to change too much, I think the game is absolutely perfect the real way it is. It’s exciting, it’s fast. These fouls that are cynical individuals are on about, you seldom see them, and additionally they probably level by themselves away during the period of the entire year anyhow.

“I’d hate to see certainly one of our players getting delivered down for this. Every other group would hate to see their players getting delivered down for this. It is simply the real way the game is, and that’s the way it’s played.

“Obviously if you’re persistently fouling, that’s up to the referee. And if a challenge is bad enough, it’s up to him to see what colour card it is. But I think we’re at a accepted place now where we are wanting to alter excessively concerning the game, that is already within my eyes perfect.”

Turnover within the Cork squad

Whether or otherwise not you will see alterations in the rule-book, there will definitely be a feel that is fresh the Cork hurling panel in 2021, after several big names have departed.

“It’s strange for me and especially for lads my age. They’re all really good friends of mine and we’ve all been tight over the full years,” Horgan outlined.

“But Sometimes it just comes to and final end and fellas say they’ve enough. I know the five or six fellas who’ve left were unbelievable players for Cork, but the way I’d look for them, there’s a new door open for younger players coming in or whoever.[Aidan]”Ten at it is that while that door has closed years back, they going to fill Seán Óg’s boots or lads like that?’

“But they took their chance when they were given the opportunity and I think the same will happen now if you said,

Nash is coming in or ‘Maccy’ (Stephen McDonnell) is coming in, or

O'Grady will be hoping to lift the Rebels O'Grady will be hoping to lift the Rebels

Lehane, Joycey (Christopher Joyce) are coming in – you’d be like ‘how are. I think we’ve really players that are good the panel and they’ll note that there are a great number of places up for grabs and they’re going to be well in a position to just take their opportunity once they’re trained with.”

Cork is likely to be without some home names in 2021

O’Grady returns

Meanwhile there is a addition that is notable Kieran Kingston’s backroom team in the off-season, as former All-Ireland winning boss Donal O’Grady joins to work on analysis and coaching.

“But looking on, whenever he had been on the Cork group from 2003-2005, he appears like a perfectionist, he previously all their players in the wavelength that is same playing to a really good system at the time.[Munster]”His knowledge of the game obviously, his brain that is hurling is exciting, to choose their mind about things. He knows whether you are a forward or a relative back, he understands the position in the field that you’re on, the speed of the game, and what’s expected. I think it’s very exciting, obviously we’ve had a chats that are few Zoom now, but actually anticipating getting chatting to him within the coming months face-to-face so we’ll see just what we are able to escape it.”

“Playing weekly is a bonus for anyone. You are going to be training hard in the break week anyway whether you have a game once every week or once every two weeks. You could too be games that are playing” he argued.

“I found the* that is( championship went over a month…you played a couple of weeks in a row then per week break, we thought which was brilliant. You have got no right time to feel down. You could have done something differently, you don’t have to wait that long if you feel. It is six or a week and you may attempt to right the wrongs.

“As players all we should do is play. You appear during the NFL period. They perform 16 days in a row with one break week. I’d love that with hurling, that you could just play weekly.

“It’s probably a sport where we over-train. We probably kill ourselves and don’t play enough games for the amount of training we do. The more games the better.”
