College Basketball Betting Preview: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders – Monday, Feb. 1, 2021

#24 Oklahoma (11-4, 6-3) and #10 Texas Tech (12-5, 4-4) will not get much time to celebrate their wins in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Sooners and Red Raiders will battle in a gigantic contest for both teams. The Red Raiders cannot afford to slip below .500 if they want any hope of a conference title.

The Sooners won their fifth straight game, defeating a red-hot Alabama team 66-61. Oklahoma knocked off four teams who were ranked inside the top 10 in January.

Texas Tech bounced back from two straight conference losses by going on the road and defeating LSU 76-71. The Red Raiders have won four of their last six games.

Oklahoma Betting Preview

Lon Kruger and the Sooners will not be able to sneak up on anyone after having an outstanding month of January. Their only losses in the Big 12 are to Texas Tech and on the road to Baylor and Kansas.

Austin Reaves had to sit out Saturday’s contest against Alabama. Reaves and Alondes Williams’ status for tonight’s game is unknown.

Reaves leads Oklahoma in scoring (15.8), assists (5.1) and rebounds (5.1). De’Vion Harmon made up for the absence of Reaves and then some.

He scored 18 points and added four assists and four rebounds in the victory. Harmon has really come on strong, scoring 13 or more points in five straight games. Harman is averaging 13.1 points and is shooting 37.7% from three-point range.

Kenpom has Oklahoma ranked 20th overall. The offense is 25th in efficiency and the defense ranks 28th. The Sooners are 9th best in the nation with a turnover rate of only 15.0%.

Texas Tech Betting Preview

This Red Raiders team is not quite as dominant on defense as they have been in year’s past, but still a very solid unit. Texas Tech is ranked 13th in defensive efficiency, which is the first time the Chris Beard coached team has been outside of the top 10 since 2017.

Georgetown transfer Mac McClung leads Texas Tech in scoring at 17.5 points per game. McClung is getting to the free throw line with regularity and converting at a 81.5% clip.

Terrence Shannon Jr. is the other Red Raiders’ player averaging double figures at 13.6 points per game. Shannon leads the team in steals at 1.4 per game.

Texas Tech is ranked 12th overall by Kenpom. The offense is 24th overall in efficiency. They make up for not being a great shooting team by not turning the ball over and being excellent on the offensive glass.

Sooners/Red Raiders Betting Lines

Mybookie has Texas Tech as a 7-point favorite. The total has not been set but should open around 137 points.

Oklahoma is likely without Reaves again but this spread seems way too big. The Sooners offense seemed to run just as smoothly without Reaves.

Alabama was playing really well coming into the game so the victory was really impressive, especially without Reaves. I really like the Sooners in this game, and recommend getting on this number early before it goes down.

Oklahoma 62, Texas Tech 65
