Racing expert Steven Dowler has set his sights on taking down the Boosted £5,000 Place 6 at Chelmsford on Thursday. Check out his Chelmsford betting tips and join his Syndicate here.

Chelmsford betting tips

17.00 – Racing Welfare Handicap – 7f

An interesting opener with marginal preference for the ten-year-old SUZI’S CONNOISSEUR, who makes plenty of appeal having slipped to a career-low mark. He was less than a length behind subsequent winner, Aces, last time out and should go close.

The bottom-weight VELVET VISTA is a C&D winner and despite carrying a penalty, has to be feared given her connections are operating at an outstanding 45% strike-rate the last couple of weeks.

Selections: SUZI’S CONNOISSEUR, VELVET VISTA

17.30 – tote.co.uk Live Streaming Every UK Race Handicap – 6f

WATCHABLE continues to hold his form well despite his advancing years and is now 5Ib below his last winning mark. The return to six-furlongs looks a positive move and he could capitalise on his much-reduced mark.

VENTURA LIGHTNING achieved useful figures when producing a career-best at Newcastle 23 days ago and shouldn’t be far away if handling the surface now he’s got his head in front.

Selections: WATCHABLE, VENTURA LIGHTNING

18.00 – CCR Handicap – 1m

LOTHARIO will undoubtedly need to be on his game to land this tricky third leg of our Chelmsford betting tips, but he’s now 11Ib lower than when last successful and has C&D winning form to name, which came in a better race than this. If George Downing can get a good position on him from stall 1, Dean Ivory’s seven-year-old could go really well.

It’s only a matter of time before CASINA DI NOTTE gets his head in front. He was slowly away last time out but managed to get within two-lengths of Win Win Power and, given the winner scored next-time-out, this seven-year-old has every chance of going one better now down to a career-low mark.

Selections: LOTHARIO, CASINA DI NOTTE

18.30 – chelmsfordcityracecourse.com Maiden Stakes – 5f

This looks a weak contest and, for that matter, ELECTRIC looks the one to beat. She was runner-up three times last season and the excursions of those efforts took its toll in a valuable sales race when well-beaten. Needless to say, this event is much easier, therefore, she’s difficult to oppose for the in-form James Tate team.

Of the remainder, HOPE PROBE ran an eye-catching race on his sole outing last term, keeping on well to finish fourth at Hamilton over five-furlongs. The form of that race has already worked out well, given the first, second and third are now rated 76, 103 and 84. With improvement to come, he’s feared most.

Selections: ELECTRIC BLUE, HOPE PROBE

19.00 – Support The Injured Jockeys Fund Handicap – 1m2f

FOLLOWTHESTARS was denied a clear run when travelling strongly at Wolverhampton last time out and might well have gone close otherwise. The handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds and he’s fancied to find the necessary improvement.

DAWN VIEW was a good second over C&D three weeks ago and has only gone up 2Ib as a result. He’s likely to be ridden forward again here and has a solid chance on the form available, so is included in the Chelmsford betting tips.

Selections: FOLLOWTHESTARS, DAWN VIEW

19.30 – tote Placepot Your First Bet Classified Stakes – 1m2f

HEADLEY GEORGE is lightly-raced compared to the majority of opposition and was only a head behind Pearl Spectre at Lingfield when fourth. Simon Dow’s four-year-old gets a pull in the weights on this occasion and could reverse the form.

Tom Marquand takes the ride on WINDSORLOT, who wasn’t far behind Szarratu when the pair clashed last time out. The return to this trip could prove favourable for the eight-year-old and he should be thereabouts.

Selections: HEADLEY GEORGE, WINDSORLOT
